My Skincare Stash: COSRX

By the beginning of the year, I vowed to step up my skincare game this 2017. I am done looking at the mirror and kept hating myself. I will never be pretty, maybe, but at least I can feel damn good about my skin, and that's important! I will live with it for the rest of my life and the mere thought of living with a soggy skin full of blemishes in my 50s scared me.

I have always been intrigued with Korean's 10 steps of skin care despite my previous experience was 50:50. The opportunity came around April. After a long search and asking questions here and there, I decided to start with COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid. The rest followed suit. After using them for more than a month, I'm happily reporting my progress to you.

Skin type: normal-dry. Slightly oily on T-zone by the end of the day
Concern: Whitehead, large pores, dullness, blemishes, black circles.

COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid

If there's a part in skincare that I never did properly before, it's exfoliation. I always think as long as I wash my face before sleep then it's done. I added face brush to use with the face wash but I found my skin gotten very rough. So I turned into chemical exfoliator after numerous recommendation. This AHA worked superbly. It doesn't show immediately after first use but after few uses I found my skin gotten very smooth. Especially whiteheads on my nose and around my lips. My skin looks less dull and acnes healed rather quickly. The downside is I have to use it very regularly — currently twice a week, Wednesday and Sunday night — or the whiteheads will appear again. I think that's rather normal, though.

Repurchase? Yes, but maybe I want to try BHA Pore Minish for my pores first.

COSRX Galactomyces Alcohol-Free Toner

I misread the name and thought this was Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence. Just realized it when the order arrived. I'm trying hard to love it. I really do. The thing is, the product dispersed too little to my liking and it's very not hydrating to me — having used to Hada Labo Gokujyun Ultimate Moisturizing Lotion would do that to you. I only use it at night or at home. But maybe if you want 'lighter' toner, this would do.

Repurchase? No.

COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

I was a little skeptical of it because I never try anything with rice being the substance. But boy, it does blow me away. My skin ate it so damn well overnight and by the morning it feels so supple and hydrated. So so good I started to use it on day thinly. I really recommend it to everyone.

UPDATE: As per August 30th, 2017, I've finished the jar.

COSRX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence

Bought the right one this time! And yes it's as good as I expected. My skin feels supple and looking bright, even in photos! No more dullness! Most of the time I only use toner and essence then started on my makeup. It's that hydrating. I am still to prove that it could lighten my skin tone but I am patient for that.

Repurchase? Yes!

COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF 50++

I've been warned to use sunscreen to prevent tan since my face is currently two shades darker than my body. So I snatched this once it's available. It does its job well but the formula is rather thick. I'm not really sure if it's hydrating but it doesn't give lots of flashback in photos so it's okay. It's been a while since I use anything with aloe vera and it's pretty nice.

Repurchase? Maybe.

Overall, my COSRX haul has been paid off rather well. I am curious to try the pimple patch and some stuff in the future but these would suffice. My face feels so much better after I improved my skincare. No more tightness, dryness, or dullness. I hope to keep up with this regime for a long time.
