Movies Watched, November 2017

I didn't go to the cinema this month for various reasons. My brother was sick. I was sick. Basically everything went south on this month and it took a great toll on myself. I hated that. November was probably the hardest month in 2017 for me. I wish I could undo and do it better. I'll spare the details in the yearly recap. Soon!

The movies I watched were pretty nice. I finally finished La La Land after three attempts to finish — I think I have a short attention span. It was magical, but I kind of feel underwhelmed. Whiplash was far superior to me but this one gets more half stars because the songs are so good and I am so smitten by the opening sequence. Will Emma Stone's performance stood the test of time and be A Classic™? We'll see.

I also finally got to check Deepwater Horizon and boy, it did blow my mind away. It was amazingly well done. I heard the budget went very very high yet halfway the movie went I wonder where they are. BAM. The explosive scenes are top-notch. The story is also pretty good. It kept me on the edge of my seat and the casts did well. Unexpectedly, I like it.

November 1st to November 30th. Total: 14 movies

  1. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) — I need it to get rebooted. Yo, Hollywood! Do ya thang!
  2. Now You See Me 2 (2016) — highly enjoyable despite offering nothing new than its predecessor. This one got Jay Chou though, if you need any reason 😉
  3. Gamer (2009) — pretty entertaining.
  4. Sing (2016) — I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE. This is such a feel-good movie! Not to mention the cover is lovely with a light plot. Nice entertainment. Really nice.
  5. The Cabin in the Woods (2012) — I remember back then this was dubbed as the horror movie. I can see why. It started unassuming, progressing rather innovative, and going a bit messy in the end. But pretty enjoyable. Not for the faint-hearted, though.
  6. Collateral (2004) — one of my favorite performance of Tom Cruise.
  7. Love Actually (2003) — A Classic™. Which story do you like the most?
  8. Deepwater Horizon (2016) — who would've thought this real-life tragedy could be so entertaining? Props.
  9. Troy (2004) — along the movie I thought some gay sex was bound to happen. I am disappointed.
  10. The Pretty One (2013) — the main actress did double-cast and went too much. But the movie is quite interesting.
  11. Ratatouille (2007) — don't watch it when you're hungry. I learned it the hard way.
  12. Insurgent (2015) — pardon me, but is the whole Divergent movies supposed to be this underwhelming?
  13. Machine Gun Preacher (2011) — two Gerard Butler movies in a month. Well, well.
  14. La La Land (2016) — I feel like I've been getting too hyped from the opening song but then I went underwhelmed. Still a good movie. It's a bit sentimental to me.

Movies marked with an asterisk were watched in cinema. For a full list please go ahead to my Letterboxd. Also, for a real-time update, hop onto my diary where I (might) wrote slightly longer review on the movie. Here's my list for January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, and October.

Good thing was, Avengers Infinity War trailer released this month! So if you went to my diary and saw the movie being logged several times, sorry. Haha. I have so many feels over it. Tell me what do you think! Do you feel equally pumped as I do? Or more? Or less?
